In 2006 Hotel was voted by the public “Best Hotel Breakfast” (International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia). Caldera webcam Since 2000 the Hotel has a webcam that broadcasts a live image on the internet (updated every 60 seconds). This site has a very large number of visitors on a daily basis and the live view is re-broadcasted by hundreds of sites all around the world. http://www.santorini.net/caldera.html The common areas of the hotel currently offer several services: Lava Cave This is a natural lava cave, over 400 years old. It is currently used as breakfast area as well as for dining. The lava cave operates at night as a Wine Bar when it is cold to sit outside. Main Terrace The main terrace is currently functioning as a wedding ceremony venue as well as a wine bar when the weather is warm. Its position allows it to have direct view of the sunset, something that has made both the wedding ceremonies and the wine bar very popular to tourists and locals. Upper terraces Currently not commercially used. They offer potentially extra space for the wine bar, can be converted to storage spaces, or used for any activity of the hotel. They are situated 3 and 6 steps from the main entrance/gate of the hotel and are 15m2 in two levels. Swimming pool A swimming pool has been constructed and is in operation since March 2009. It currently has available space for 4 sunbeds at its entrance and there is space that can potentially fit 6 more. Reception The reception area - approx. 50m2 - offers enough space for a reception desk, a sitting area, storage space and reading corner / bookcase. It has direct view to the sea and it is the only access for guests and visitors to the rooms from the upper gate, providing a safe and controlled environment. Weddings Hotel weddings department is one of the first, and most successful wedding organisers of the island. The hotel itself has been shown in Greek and foreign TV channels numerous times.
