(Please note that this house is out to be exchanged with a flat in Roterdam or anything close , max distance 30 min) What you will love about this home welcome to our house! our house is situated to an area called "Romantiki gonia" which means Romantic corner in greek. We could say that our house is romantic too, It is a three stories corner building with 60's architecture style which tends to keep a character in contrast to the surrounding house blocks. We own the first and second floor and the ground floor has separate access from the other corner. The house was renovated in 2024 by George who is an architect and as you will probably notice, special care was taken to combine modern needs with the special architectural features of the building. The entrance is situated on a side very narrow street that makes it quiet and safe, since traffic is very rare. At the entrance there is some space to safely store bike and stroller. Our appartment is on the first floor of the building reachable by stairs. It is a bright apartment that captures the east and south sun on a very spatious porch. The apartment has 3 bedrooms. It has also a very spatious Kitchen, Dining and Living space that generously houses 8-10 people. It also has three bedrooms and one bathroom. It is ideal for families with two or three children. The adult room has a special feature which we must say, is not suitable for all. It has a raised double bed space and a cribb that a wooden ladder leads you to and below it there are two spatious working spaces. One of the two childen bedrooms has a bunk bed and the other one a single bed and an extra matress under it. What you will difinitely love and enjoy the most in our house is the sunny and spatious porch that has a vast dining table to sit and enjoy your meals and company, open your charts and set your plans! What you will love about this neighborhood This is a family non touristic area of the city where you will meet locals around. Its a very quiet and safe area. You will find everything you need in just 5 minutes walking distance including super markets, pharmacy, grocery shops, playgrounds and parks. The city of Heraklion is full of history! Historic sites like Venetian walls are in walking distance. The bus stop to Knossos Minoan palace is just 8 minutes walk. The city center is 10-15 minutes in walking distance where the archaeological museum, shopping centre, nice restaurants and bars, are located. You can reach nearby sandy beaches by the city bus or by the regional bus. Those are: Agia Pelagia, Matala, Agiofaraggo and many others that you may find on cretanbeaches.com. The closest ones are: Ammoudara to the west side of the city which is accesible also on foot and there you can find a Kite surf club. (30 min. walk) and Arina beach to the east which is 15 min. drive. There you can also find a sup-surf club to a nearby gulf called Konaki. Cultural centre is in 10 minutes walk, also open air cinema and main open air theatres for cultural events operated in summer time are in 10minutes distance. There is also a park very close, in the ditch of the Venetian city wall, which has two modern play grounds. Another thing that is really important about the area is that in general, in Heraklion there is a lack of sidewalks in the neighborhoods. But in our neighborhood you have the "luxury" to walk on a sidewalk at all times safely to the city center. Then if you don't want to climb back the hill to the house, you can grab the bus n. .4 (MASTABAS) from the central square of Liberty and be back at 5 min. Additional information Parking is for free in the streets around although might be difficult in busy hours. Check-in time is flexible, according to your wishes and previous guests. Our home is best enjoyed by a family with kids or 3-4 adults (including teenagers).
