Agios Nikonas is a village of the municipality of West Mani in the prefecture of Messinia, built on the Kalamata - Areopolis road. Its original name, Poliana, has Slavic roots and means open, flat place. This name is attributed to the physiology of the area, a reason that made it a pasture before it was inhabited. Geographically, it is the eastern boundary of the western Mani, on the Kalamata-Areopolis provincial road, 64 km from Kalamata.
