On Wikipedia we read: Its name owes it to the word "Baos" which means passage. There are several companies operating in the area today, while there is also a football team, A.O. Ice. The history of the village dates back to 2,800 BC, while great examples of the Roman period are presented. Pagos is considered a purely rural settlement (like all settlements located in the interior of the island), with fertile land, tree crops, and vineyards. The Dutch agronomist Pavlos Cooper arrived in Pagos in 1963, after the intervention of the Catholic Church, in order to give a different breath to the -until then- stuck agricultural production. With his help, greenhouse cultivation was developed in the area, which then gradually expanded to the rest of Syros.
