Fittoko village is located at an altitude of 250 m at the western ends of Pelion and 6 km northwest of Volos city, with 300 permanent residents approximately. It is located in a fully green environment, overlooking the whole town of Volos.

Both natural area and residential form of the settlement remind of Pelion, giving the visitor the feeling that a piece of the beautiful Pelion mountain has been cut and attached to the northern border of the Municipality of N. Ionia, offering its inhabitants an opportunity for walks, relaxation and food in the four picturesque taverns that the settlement provides.

At Fittoko we may find three churches: the parish church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, built in 1782 as the chapel of St. Athanasios of Makrinitsa, Ag. Taxiarchis and the newly built St. Andrew. Finally, above the settlement, there is a women's monastery of Panagia Gorgoypikoo which is under construction.

Most residents of the settlement are natives from Makrinitsa. The inhabitants of Makrinitsa had built huts in the area of today's Fittoko settlement, where they went down and stayed for the cultivation and harvesting of olives, until they chose the area as a permanent residence. Moreover, most of the estates belong to Makrinitsa’s land province.

Fittoko consists of three districts: the main settlement, Ag. Taxiarchis and the quarter of olive-mill, while in the wider region of the settlement there are the settlements Lozinikos, Gionis and Klima.

A remarkable point in the area is the bridge at Paleokamara, dating from about 300 BC, at the time of Ancient Demetrias, where it served as a passage of a water pipeline that carried water from the sources of Makrinitsa to the city of Demetrias.

Entering the settlement, you meet the church of St. Andreas while at the end of the settlement you meet the parish church of the birth of the Virgin Mary. Continuing on a road of good access after about 3 km far from the settlement is located the Holy Monastery "Panagia Gorgoypikoo”.

The cultivation of the area is mainly olives, as most of the settlement consists of olive groves. In addition. wine of very good quality is also produced in the area. 

Very close to the settlement, there are parts of the Agricultural University of Thessaly running in the former Matsangos tobacco warehouse, since 2000.
