Drapanos is a beautiful traditional village located at the northeastern end of Apokoronas, at an altitude of 305 meters. It is part of the Local Community of Kefalas, of the Municipal Unit of Vamos of the Municipality of Apokoronas.

Today, Drapanos is known mainly for the impressive panoramic views of the entire Souda bay and the White Mountains with its valleys, green hills and taverns, while particular interest in the village has been caused by the European Academy of Sustainability, which was based there in 2012 an ecological house and organizes events and tours of an ecological nature.

Several tourist properties as well as permanent luxury residences have been built in the area in recent years, giving a big boost to the development of the village.

In Drapanos there is public transportation with routes to the surrounding villages and Chania. Other services can be found in neighboring villages such as Plaka or Kefalas, which are only a few minutes away by car, the nearest seaside village is Almyrida about ten minutes by car.
