Several kilometers away from the coastline of the Pagasitikos Gulf, at the bottom of the ravine of Vrichonas, surrounded by the dense vegetation of the south side of the ravine, is located the beautiful historical village of Agios Lavrentios.

As its name suggests, the generative core of the village was the monastery of Agios Lavrentios founded here by Osios Lavrentios in 1378, on the site of a pre-existing ruined monastery of the 12th century founded by Amalfi monks. They were a group of the Order of St. Benedict, from Amalfi, Italy, and paradoxically orthodox.
