MOCHLOS PROPERTY (SITIA, CRETE, GREECE)

Mochlos is a small picturesque fishing village located in the gulf of Mirabello in Eastern Crete, easily within reach of the cities of Agios Nikolaos, Ierapetra and Sitia (all not more than a half an hour drive; Sitia possesses an airport with direct flights to/from Athens, and several European cities as well). In addition, the international airport of Heraklion (which links to multiple destinations in Europe) is one hour drive away.
Mochlos village is situated close to many touristic destinations, including the Lassithi Plateau, Agios Nikolaos and Elounda to the west (half to one hour drive), and Sitia, Toplou Orthodox Monastery and Vai palm beach to the east (ca. one hour drive).
The village overlooks a small oval island with warm colours and green heaths. It shelters an archaeological site of an ancient Minoan settlement (2500 B.C.). The small chapel situated on the right of the site is dedicated to St. Nicolas who protects the seamen. The island is just a 5-minute boat ride away (easily accessible by swimming as well…).
Mochlos village hosts some of the best tavernas in the island of Crete with fresh fish and local speciality dishes, cosy bars and cafes. Just in front of its small bay, there is a sandy beach as well as two other with pebbles, while the entire coast-line is great for snorkelling and fishing. Just beside one of the tavernas, a natural rock pool naturally heated by the sun during the day is the perfect spot to have a little relax and enjoy the sea-view.
In general, the area is ideal for peaceful and serene vacations away from the noise and pollution of big cities or heavily crowded tourist areas.

The property for sale is located on a small rocky hill overlooking Mochlos village (5-minute walk to the beach).
